Kathie Chernetski - Choreographer
kathie@countrypridedanceclub.ca

Kathie Chernetski is a dance instructor and choreographer by night, and a finance manager at Scott Subaru by day.  Kathie has been dancing since she was seven years old, taking classes in tap, jazz, ballet, and even Hawaiian dancing.  At the University of Alberta she received her Bachelor of Physical Education degree, majoring in coaching and minoring in athletic training and conditioning.  There she was also able to broaden her dance repertoire by taking courses in choreography, ballroom dance, and contemporary dance.

Before teaching dance, Kathie coached figure skating for 25 years, and is gold level in figures, freestyle, and dance.  She coached all ages of skaters from age four to adults, and had some very successful competitive skaters as well, winning Coach of the Year for the Edmonton Zone in 1990.

Kathie has been teaching for the Country Pride Dance Club in Red Deer for the past eight years, and also has a dance business called Country Dance Inc. with her partner Rob Ironside.  They were recipients of the Mayors Recognition Award for Community building in 2017.  They teach all different styles of dance, but Kathie's favorite is line dancing.  The great thing about line dancing is you can do it without a partner.  If you have to, you can even dance a line dance by yourself, but it's always more fun when someone joins in.
